seo and ipadThis is the first post in a series of rants discussions which will address the commonly asked question of “how do I improve my website’s SEO?” It’s understandable that most business owners aren’t sure as to what it takes to improve their website. Such business owners, after all, receive quite a few calls from people offering to “get you to the top of Google.” The fact of the matter, however, is that the people cold calling businesses have about as much ability to help with search results as they do with helping you book passage on a space flight to Mars. I’m writing this series, therefore, to provide straightforward information when it comes to understanding how to improve your website’s search optimization. As someone who has sold multiple websites, due to their high search placement, I believe I am qualified to speak on this topic. If you require assistance with your online presence then contact us online or by telephone today. Our website designers and I work with companies throughout the United States.

I’m going to look at quite a few topics over my coming articles. Some of the topics which I will dive into include:

  • What is, and what isn’t SEO
  • How to pick the “best” SEO company
  • Why you should never contact a company which holds themselves out as an “SEO agency.”

I’ve chosen these topics to write on for a few reasons. First, “search engine optimization” is a term that gets thrown around quite a bit. As a result, it can mean different things to different people. It is also a common buzzword for marketers who don’t have a clue as to what they’re talking about. By understanding what is, and what is not, legitimate search engine optimization, you can help to ensure that you’re hiring a web developer who will actually provide you with value. Second, when selecting a company to assist you, there are things to look for in terms of their approach and there are red flags to avoid. By knowing what to look for and what to avoid you can choose a company that will provide you with value. Finally, as I will explain in my subsequent articles, there is no such thing as an “SEO agency.” By this I mean that while companies or individuals will hold themselves out as such, anyone who is not assisting with the build of your website, as well as your content, is not actually providing any services which search engines will care about.
